Obituary for Paul A. Quintal

Paul A.  Quintal
Paul A. Quintal, 88, a resident of the Duck Puddle Rd passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his residence after several months of declining health with his daughter at his side.

Paul was born in Randolph ME April 16, 1923, the eldest son of Aimee’ and Florence LeBeau Quintal, attended area schools including Litchfield Academy.

As a teenager, he worked in a local shoe factory, but soon began what would become a lifelong career, that of a Maine Woodsman.

Naturally, Paul loved the outdoors. He worked his woodlots to be sustainable, always selective cutting. Several of the lots were designated as “Tree Farms”. He was also featured in a regional logging publication.

Paul’s work ethic was second to none. For years he enjoyed an early breakfast at Moody’s Diner, before starting his day. He “officially retired age 78, however, he always kept himself active, around the house, going for walks, and feeding the birds.

On November 3, 1948, he married Marcelle LeTarte. This year marks their 63rd wedding anniversary. Marcelle passed away unexpectedly August 14 of this year.

He is predeceased by his wife, brothers Phillip Quintal of Nobleboro, Herman Quintal of Freeport, a sister Anita James of Sabattus, and a very good friend and co-worker Bob Brown of New York.

Paul is survived by his daughter Paula Quintal Sprague of Nobleboro,
Granddaughter Sierra Sprague of Merritt Island, FL,
Grandson Brandon Sprague of Siler City, NC,
and a brother Morns Quintal of Gardiner.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St. Waldoboro. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at the funeral home 1 PM Thursday, Nov. 3. Interment will follow in the Dunbar Cemetery, Nobleboro. Following the committal, those wishing to are invited to visit with the family at their home on Duck Puddle Rd.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Acadia National Park, Superintendent PO Box 177 Bar Harbor, ME 04609, Lincoln County
Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME. 04556, Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841, or beautify a landscape by planting a tree.
