Condolence From: Marilyn Drennan Brus
Condolence: My father. Merrill W. Drennan, was a pastor in the United Methodist Church, Baltimore Conference. (For many years, he was at Millian Memorial UMC, in Rockville, MD, later, at Metropoitan Memorial, in Washington, D.C. and he was a District Superintendent twice.) My parents were very good friends of the Zimmerli's for years. I'm now 68, and one of my childhood memories was of being a "camper", in about 1958 (I was in 7th Grade), at the Methodist Junior High Fellowship smmer camp, held at Western Maryland College. (Now of course, called McDaniel College.) Wesley had just been adopted by the Zimmerli's, and this cute little red-headed toddler was the favorite on our dorm floor!
Years later, in 1978, when we had two small children (third one not born yet), we vacationed with my parents at Ocean Point. Of course, we had to go to church on Sunday morning, and we attended services at the Wilson Memorial Chapel, just north of Ocean Point. At the service, we ran into the Zimmerli's: Bob and Mary Jo, Wesley and Laura, now, of course, all grown up. (Think they were at least college age.)
In August (2014) my husband and I again vacationed at Ocean Point, staying at the Inn, and, during one of our morning walks, we passed this tiny chapel, which I immediately remembered from all those years ago. (Signed the guest book and wrote a brief version of having been there all those years ago.)
Wow! Such memories! Very sorry to hear of Mrs. Zimmerli's passing. I have remembered your family all these years. - Marilyn Drennan Brus (marilynbrus@gmail.com)

Condolence: Judy and I are sad to hear of Mary Jo's passing. Although many years have gone by both Mary Jo and Bob are remembered from the time my Dad (John Stacks) pastored with 'Rev. Z' at Brooklyn Heights. May God give you, Wes and Laura the strength and courage to continue on.

Condolence: Mary Jo, I know you can see and hear all of us, so I wanted to thank you for you. And to thank God and your entire family for you. Thank you for preaching at Ocean Point Wilson Memorial Chapel throughout the years - our 11-year-old daughter has heard you every year through the years, remembering your stained glass window story and your teaching "Jesus Loves Me" in sign languages. Friends who visit and their children vividly remember you. You are missed dearly. The Carrick Family

Condolence From: Wilson & Marilyn Shearer
Condolence: I was Mary Jo's and Bob's District Superintendent when they were serving Calvary Church in Frederick, MD. I was pleased to be able to add my recommendation to that of Calvary Church so she could begin her candidacy for the ministry. She was a good friend to us as a pastor's wife, a "Cabinet wife" while Bob was a DS, and later as a DS herself. She was a person of charm, intelligence, and boundless energy. But most of all she was a deeply committed Christian! Our paths diverged when they moved to Maine in retirement, and we retired in Maryland, but we never forgot them. Our sincere condolences to Bob and the entire family.
