Condolence: Just learned of Mr Violette's passing and I'm so sorry for your loss. I was one of the lucky students at Jefferson Village School to have him as my science teacher. I believe his love of science is one of the reasons I love science today. I remember him fondly; he always had a kind word, funny joke or fun memory to share. He was "one of the good guys" of life & I'm saddened to know I will not meet his warm smile around town. My deepest condolences.

Condolence From: Deborah Meehan, University College at Rockland
Condolence: I was very saddened today to get the news about Jim. He was a well respected university instructor of geography. Students appreciated that Jim held high expectations for them. His mastery and passion for the subject and his kind delivery of the material made students love a course they might otherwise have dreaded. During my last phone chat with him, he still held high hopes for continuing to teach because he loved it so. We are all very sorry for this loss and extend our deepest condolences to the family.

Condolence: I am so sorry for your loss. You don't know me but I had Mr. V as a teacher and softball coach {1981/82 7th and 8th grade} at JVS. He influenced and molded many young lives for being a great teacher. He was so very memorable his favorite saying "I am here to get you ready for high school", his corny but funny jokes and his Rosebud which was his cars name at that time.Just know the legacy he left in hundreds probably thousands of children that had the pleasure of knowing him and having him as their teacher tells you what kind of man he was.

Condolence: Martha, Amanda and Allison,
We were very sad when we learned that Jim had passed. He was a great husband, father and one of the best teachers I have ever been associated with. He was a special friend to me for over 30 years. We rode to Belfast while we were both at the High School. I soon became aware of the love he had for you Martha, Mandy and Allison. he was always bragging about the three of you. I cannot begin to tell you how much he will be missed. We learned to play golf togrther. I am grateful that we were able to play one last time this past summer. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers and we will continue to think of Jim with fond memories and all the good times we had together.

Condolence: We are currently away in Florida or we would be attending the service for Jim. We were so sad to receive this news from Betty Welt.
I had the privilege of working with Jim during his tenure as a Coastal Senior College instructor. Both my husband and I were his students as well. His humor, his teaching skills, his indomitable spirit were inspirational.
We send our heartfelt sympathies to his family on the loss of such a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend.
Peace to you.

Condolence From: Connie Ouellette Winship
Condolence: Dear Martha,
We are in Florida as we learn about Jim's passing. How we wish we were home so that we could attend his funeral, pay our respects

It seems like a few short years ago that you and I fell in love with the young Phi Sigma Pi frat guys who would later become our husbands. It was such a special time, all of us idealistic with our lives ahead of us. Do you remember our time in Hawaii when both of us talked in earnest about Jim & Ray?

I remember Jim's dry self-deprecating humor and gentleness. His joy in marrying you.

Our condolences to you and your daughters in this difficult time.

With love, Connie
