Condolence: I was lucky enough to have Mr. Fassett (sorry, I just can't call him Charlie!) as my music teacher and Women's Glee Club director at Wheaton ('79'). He introduced me to so many different types of music and I credit him largely for my still singing in a wonderful community choir. I remember sitting across from him on a bus on our way to sing a concert when it was raining. He looked at the windshield wipers and said "What do you think - 3 against 4?" Always thinking, always funny, and so musical - that is how I will always remember wonderful Mr. Fassett. All my sympathy to his family. We have all lost a treasure.

Condolence: Our deepest condolences to the Fassett family and to you, Ellen, his loyal companion. We shall deeply miss Charlie's presence at his wonderful camp in Phillips which we visited so very often, whether he was there or not. It is such a beautiful peaceful place, so 'Charlie.' His love of nature, animals and the environment, all these gifts will remain. We will miss his encouragement and continuous support in the restoration efforts of Toothaker Pond, something that he held dear. It was our privilege to be your friend. Sleep well.

Condolence: My heart is broken, but my memories of Professor Fassett are fond. I had the great pleasure of being in the Chorale at Wheaton College in the 1980's. I got to sing with Laura a few years. It was a pleasure to have known Professor Fasset and Laura. Many memories of Puerto Rico, Christmas Vespers, and many performances. Prayers for peace...

Condolence: My sincerest condolences to Fassett family. Losing a loved one is one of the painful things in this world, no one wants this even our loving Father. It is comforting to know that God deeply cares about us and would soon act to eliminate death. (1 Peter 5:7; Revelation 21:4) May you find comfort from these scriptures and be encouraged that we will soon meet Charles again.

Condolence: Charlie was a wonderful colleague and friend during my early years at Wheaton college. I particularly enjoyed his wry Maine wit and commentary on the world of academe - and his advice on buying used cars. Any event with Charlie in attendance was always a happy occasion. In my first year as Dean of Students, Charlie was serving as faculty marshall which put him in charge of the commencement processional. He was adamant that I should not fall into a boring cadence as I read the names of the graduates who crossed the platform to receive thieir diplomas. He thought there should be an alternating rhythm to the way students walked. This resulted in his gripping each student by the elbow as they paused at the edge of the platform and I was to read each name as he propelled them forward. This resulted in students taking several hasty steps with rather startled expressions on their faces. Not sure what the tune was but it was a fine performance. I will miss knowing that Charlie is no longer among us; my sincere condolences to his family and Maine friends.

Condolence: My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Charlie's family. I was fortunate to have known Charlie Fassett as my music director/conductor/friend in Providence Singers for many years. He taught me so much about choral singing, and music in general, and always with great humor and compassion. I will never forget one conversation in which I expressed my lack of enthusiasm about a piece we were preparing. Charlie said, with great seriousness, "If you want to be a good musician, you have to have big ears." He meant, of course, that one should have an open mind, and experience things before judging them. It's advice I've carried with me through my life. Charlie helped me to grow big ears, and not just musically, but in all spheres of my life. He was a great person, and will be missed.

Condolence: My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to you all during this time of mourning. I only met "Laura's Dad" aka "Anja's Grandfather" once. His light lives on through all his family. Knowing and Loving Laura, Anja, and their family the way that I do there is a passing of compassion and love that Charles most definitely handed down by example to those around him, I see it in them. He lives on through each of you and now he gets to be even closer to you all as your guardian angel. The angels danced and the horns and trumpets played as he passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home. Blessing to you all.

Condolence: I was a Wheaton colleague of Charlie for many years. He was a great guy. I fondly recall the time we spent together in Thailand. His interests and enthusiasms were global. May his family accept my condolences.

Condolence: My condolences to the Fassett family. Prof Fassett the chorale director was a joy to sing for, and Prof Fassett the singer was an even bigger joy to sing with! Practicing and performing Schutz duets at Wheaton were some of the best moments of my life. Prof Fassett made me appreciate music in unique ways, and I'm a better person for having known him.

Condolence: Condolences to Charlie's many friends, family, and musical associates like myself. I first encountered Charlie at Amherst College, first as a tenor aria soloist in a St. Matthew Passion performance by the Smith AND AC Glee Clubs back in 1961. He later played a major role in helping The Providence Singers develop into the highly versatile and accomplished performing group that they are today. He was particularly notable for his dedication to the importance of performing new music, a notable element of PS concerts that his successors have maintained to this day. May he rest comfortably, though peace might be a bit too quiet for him.
