Obituary for
Dwight Crittenden Sewell
Dwight Crittenden Sewell, 92, died June 13, 2016 in Florida. Dwight was born December 9, 1923 in Scarborough to Albert G. Sewell and Florence Nelson Sewell. As a child the family moved to Waldoboro. He graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of 1943. After graduation he directly joined the Navy and fought during World War II.
On September 25, 1944 he married Pauline Creamer.
After the war he worked as a poultry farmer and also worked for Genthner’s Oil Service and Garage. He then became a carpenter for the next 30 years.
Dwight and Pauline started going to Florida for the winters in the early 1970s and moved there full time in 2008. He enjoyed working and gardening.
Dwight was a member of the Oddfellows in Waldoboro and the, Charles C. Lilly American Legion Post #149 in Waldoboro.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Pauline and his five siblings.
He is survived by his son Bruce Sewell and wife Marilyn of Warren, daughter Joan Robichaud of Rockland and son Eric Sewell and wife Diana of Warren, 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate Dwight’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Shuman Cemetery, Route 220 in Waldoboro.
