Obituary for Charles L Niemenski

Charles L Niemenski
Charles Niemenski 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at his home on Southport Island.

Charles grew up in Wilkes Barre, PA, attended local schools through the 9th grade. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 14 and was one of five brothers who served during WW II in Naval Ordinance for Anti-Sub Warfare in the So. Atlantic and Brazil. He married Geraldine and moved to Akron Ohio, where he worked for many years at Firestone Rubber as a tire maker. Upon his retirement, they moved to Southport Island, where he lived for thirty three years. He built their own home, had a passion for carpentry, and was always thinking about the next project. Charles was not a man to “sit still”, loved to stay busy, a proud, determined, self-made man.

Charles was predeceased by his wife Geraldine of sixty years, who passed away in 2006.

Survived by a Son Charles Jr. and wife Ellen of Southport, and Grandson; Robert Niemenski of Akron, Ohio.

Visiting hours for Charles will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 2-4 p.m at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay ME.

Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Niemenski Cemetery, 888 Hendricks Hill Rd., Southport, ME.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southport Central School, P.O.Box 279, Southport, ME. 04576 in his memory.
