Obituary for John D. Farnham

John D. Farnham
John “Dave” Farnham, 75, died peacefully with his family by his side on Jan. 4, 2017 at St. Andrews Village after a long, courageous battle against Alzheimer’s disease.

Dave was born on May 3, 1941 in Boothbay Harbor to John Oscar and Sally (Luke) Farnham. Dave attended local schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation. In the Navy, Dave traveled the world. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Dave came back to Boothbay Harbor where he worked many different jobs. His favorite job was lobstering with Wendall Kimball on the Sow’s Ear. Dave loved being on the water. Later in his career, Dave worked various housekeeping jobs and retired from St. Andrews Hospital after 18 years.

Dave enjoyed going on trips whether it was up north with Elizabeth, to Mount Washington with Jonathan, or for rides around Ocean Point with his partner-in-crime, Milo (the family dog). Dave and Elizabeth treasured their time together, no matter what they were doing. Dave enjoyed clamming, looking for deer, and taking walks down at Spruce Point with his friend Julianne Daley.

Dave was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Louise “Doty” Farnham.

He is survived by his true love and partner of 20 years, Elizabeth Manson of Boothbay Harbor; sisters, Janice Colby and her husband Richard of Woodbridge, Virginia and Helen Farnham of Boothbay Harbor; brother, Fred Farnham of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Lisa Page and her husband Neal of Boothbay Harbor; son, Jonathan M. Farnham and his wife Charity of Boothbay; stepdaughters, Lori Eimen and her husband Alan of Boothbay and Heather Manson of Boothbay Harbor; and stepson, David Manson and his fiancé Jennifer Sprague of Boothbay. Dave is also survived by grandchildren, Katherine Landry, Samuel Page, Winter Page, Nicholas Johansen, Amber Johansen, Hannah Prest, and Rachel Eimen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road, on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 11 am with Al Roberts officiating. A potluck gathering will follow at the Knights of Pythias Hall, Lakeside Drive, Boothbay Harbor.

Memorial donations can be made to fund Alzheimer’s research in Dave’s memory online at: www.alz.org or by mail to: Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
