Obituary for
Marjorie Edna Freeman
Marjorie Edna Freeman, aged 96, passed away April 2, 2017, at the Woodland Center in Rockland, Maine. Marjorie was born in Jefferson, Maine on December 3, 1920, the daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Black) Orff. She grew up in Jefferson and attended Jefferson Grade School and graduated from Waldoboro High School.
She met and then married William Freeman on June 10, 1940.
Marjorie was a housewife her whole life, bringing up her children. Her hobbies were history, genealogy and rug hooking. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Historical Society, and the German Lutheran Society. She was noted for her rug hooking skills and knowledge of local history.
Marjorie is predeceased by her parents, her husband William Freeman and a daughter, Wilma Stover.
She is survived by her daughters, Alicia Mortensen of Waldoboro, ME, and Marcia Fontes of Raymond ME, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, brothers, Lincoln Orff of Jefferson, ME, Robert Orff of Jefferson, Maine and Rodney Orff of Jefferson, ME, sister Ethel Buck of Portland, ME, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marjorie’s name may be made to the Orff’s Corner Church, P.O. Box 1021, Waldoboro, Maine 04572.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Orff's Corner Church in Waldoboro, Reverend Bob Bellows officiating.
