Obituary for Dianne C Rintz (Clark)

Dianne Clark Rintz passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Wilmington Hospice on February 23, 2018 at the age of 79. Dianne was born in Rockland, Maine on January 9, 1939 to Ruth (Clark) and Charles Mitchell. She was raised by her grandparents, Nettie (Smalley) and Merritt Clark in Tenants Harbor, Maine. She attended the one-room school house in Tenants Harbor and later graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. After graduating high school, Dianne attended Russell Sage College in New York for one year.

Dianne moved from Maine to Branford, Connecticut in 1973 and was a resident there until recently. She worked for many years as an Ophthalmic Technician at Guida Ophthalmology in New Haven. She loved working in the medical field and found it very rewarding. Dianne enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, antiques, reading, taking walks, travel, and listening to opera. She spent many hours caring for the gardens in her yard and was especially fond of peonies, lilacs and roses, which she grew in abundance. She had a good 'eye' for antiques and her home is filled with many of her 'finds,' which she would refinish and display. She was known for her pies and flakey pie crust. She attended a gathering of her family over Thanksgiving and was excited to visit with her grandchildren and meet her first great-grandchild, Leah.

Dianne is pre-deceased by her beloved grandparents, Nettie and Merritt Clark; her parents; her paternal grandmother, Caroline Mitchell; and her former husbands, John Court Staffeld, Sr. and Stanley Rintz. She is survived by her brother, Paul “Joe” Imhof of Cape Coral, Florida; her children: Karen Staffeld of Dexter, Maine, John Court Staffeld, Jr. of North Ft. Meyers, Florida, and Carolyn Martino of Wilmington, North Carolina; her step-daughters: Dorothy “Dot” McBride and Terry Rintz; six grandchildren: Jessica Staffeld, Nicole Collett, Dana Staffeld, Christopher Martino, Andrew Martino, and Sarah Martino; and one great-grandchild, Leah Bowling. She also leaves behind long time friends Margaret Carleton, Carol Kiefer, Joan Collins, and Betty Polverari.
