Obituary for Otto H. "Pat" Bowden Jr.

Otto H. "Pat" Bowden Jr.
Otto Howard “Pat” Bowden, 96, passed away on March 5, 2018, in Rockport, Maine, with his loving wife of 70 years by his side. A longtime resident of Warren, Pat was born in Sidney and raised in Hallowell. His parents were Otto H. Bowden Sr. and Mabel Shuman. Pat was a Sergeant in the Army from 1939 until 1946. When Pat and Flora married they moved to his parents’ farm in Warren and ran and expanded it into what is now called Bowden’s Egg Farm. They raised five children, Dennis, Donna, Dale, Denise, and Donn. Pat and Flora spent the winters in Florida the last 30 years, and he especially enjoyed playing horseshoes, visiting with friends on his golf cart, and taking in the club softball games. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church, served as a trustee, and Couples Club with Flora. He was a fun-loving member of the Warren community and could be found most mornings having coffee and flipping for quarters at Ande’s. He will be missed.

Pat is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Flora; siblings Caroline “Cal” Heyer and Charles Bowden; brother-in-law Glen Simmons; children Dennis (Nancy Curtis) Bowden, Donna Davis (Ed Ott), Dale Flagg (James), Denise Philbrook (Ron), and Donn (Wanda) Bowden; grandchildren Dennis Cloutier, Chad (Katy) Cloutier, Libby Miner (Paul), Ben (Hilarie) Kennedy, Anna Kennedy, Larry (Billie-Jo) Philbrook, Allison (Brandon) Moody, Melissa Philbrook, Megan Bowden; Rachel Curtis-Bowden, Sulva (Jeffrey) Dow, and Nicole (Ben) Starrett; and great-grandchildren, Grace, Wesley, Alden, and Alexandra Cloutier, Ella and Brandt Cloutier, Patrick Miner, Vaughan Otto Philbrook, Brooklyn and Natalie Moody, and Lorelai and Owen Starrett; many nieces and nephews and grand dogs.

Visiting hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at Hall’s Funeral Home in Waldoboro. A funeral service will be March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Warren Baptist Church with Rev. Linwood Welch officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Rural Cemetery in Waldoboro. Should friends desire, a contribution can be made in Otto’s name to the Old Brick School Community Center, P.O. Box 294, Warren, ME 04864
