Obituary for Leona R White

Leona Ruth White, 66, passed away in the comfort of her home and with her family on Thursday April 26, 2018 in Thomaston, Maine. Born on January 3, 1952 to parents Floyd Carter and Phyllis Winchenbach Carter in Damariscotta, Maine

Leona went to Georges Valley High School and after high school she started raising her family and began her working career. Her many years working at Dave’s Restaurant in Thomaston as a prep cook was a tribute to her loyalty to them as she stayed until it was closed. She then started working at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport in the kitchen department and continued until just recently when her health no longer allowed her to work. Many will remember her smiling face as she delivered hundreds of meals to the patients there. She was truly a dedicated worker.

The most important thing to Leona her entire life were her children and family. She took pride in her children and their accomplishments. They have many memories to share of the great times they had with her. One of Leona’s favorite past times was going on scenic car rides with her friends and family.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, her son Brian White and his wife Yarissa Ortiz-Vidal of Rockland, ME, her daughters Delores Allen and her husband Corey Allen of Rockland, ME, and Phyllisa White of Thomaston, ME. She is also survived by her sister Linda McMillan of Port Charlotte, FL, her grandchildren Cameron Allen, Benjamin Allen of Rockland, ME, Brianna White-Ortiz of Rockland, ME, and Austin White-Ortiz of Rockland, ME. She also leaves a nephew Ricky Carter of Thomaston, ME as well as Wendy Greenrose and Michael McGuire who she thought of as her own.

Leona will be laid to rest privately in the Village Cemetery in Thomaston on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. A public celebration of her life will be held at her home on 18 Watts Lane, Thomaston, ME on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 3:30 p.m.
