Obituary for Alice L. Chichester

Alice Delaney Chichester 96, of Boothbay Harbor, Maine (formerly of Albany New York), peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2018 with her daughter by her side at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Alice was born on April 12, 1922 the daughter of Olivia Julia Shiels Delaney and James J. Delaney of Albany, New York.

Alice attended Albany High School and Albany Business School and after graduation went to work for General Electric in Schenectady, New York, and part time for Tobin Packing Company, Albany New York. Later she worked for the New York Telephone Company and the State of New York before leaving to become a full time Mother.

She married Harmon Chichester on June 12, 1949 and together they shared 52 loving years until his death in 2001.

They resided in Albany New York, Voorheesville, and Maine.

Alice was proud of her Irish heritage and Catholic faith, a sincere friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with her family, a good laugh and a cup of tea. She and her husband and several friends enjoyed many years together square dancing. Her private prayer time was very important to her.

Alice is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Pat (Chichester)DiMascio and husband Paul DiMascio, PhD. Nephew James Babiarz and his wife Lori, and several cousins.

Predeceased by her parents, an infant brother, and husband Harmon, sister, Hildrith Delaney Babiarz, and her husband Joseph.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at St. Andrews Village for their kind attention and love provided over the past four years. Special thanks to St. Andrews Home Health and Hospice; Suzanne Cavilleri, R.N, and Tracy Verney, Pallative Care volunteer.

A Wake for Alice will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at Hans Funeral Home 1088 Western Ave. Albany New York. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Voorheesville, New York. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands New York.
