Obituary for Evelyn P Blake

Evelyn P. Blake 89, of Southport, ME., died peacefully on May 21, 2018 at Maine Medical Center, after a long battle with dementia. Evelyn was born to Cecil Pierce and Lucy (Gaudette) Pierce of Southport, on February 11, 1929.

Evelyn graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School, Class of 1947. She married Frank H. Blake in January 1948, and they shared 47 wonderful years until his passing in 1995.

Evelyn and Frank with son Tom, moved to Middleton Mass., where Frank was a golf pro for several years before returning to Southport and started in the building business, where Evelyn was his bookkeeper for many years before they return to the golfing industry, and leased the Boothbay Region Country Club for 15 years.

Evelyn enjoyed painting in her studio, and meeting people in her corner shop. Road trips with her family, working in her gardens, visits with her cousin Sandra, and enjoyed the companionship of her special Grand-dog Maggie.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband, her parents, and son Carl

Evelyn is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Laura of Southport, grandchildren; Kate Blake of South Portland, Ned Blake of Bradenton, FL., and Pierce Kazakos of South Portland. Extended cousins, nieces and nephews from both the Blake and Gaudette families.

The family would like to thank Evelyn’s caregivers for their compassion and thoughtfulness.

Per Evelyn’s wishes, there will be a private family service at a later date.
