Obituary for Donald E. Eugley

Donald E. Eugley, 88, passed away on June 9, 2018 at his home after a long illness with his beloved family by his side.

Donald was born in North Waldoboro on September 18, 1929 as the only child of Merlin and Geneva (Robinson) Eugley. He also grew up in North Waldoboro and attended schools in Waldoboro graduating in 1946 from Waldoboro High School. He also attended University of Maine after high school. Donald married Elsie Hoak on July 3, 1951 and then served in the Korean War for 2 years. After his years in the service, he came back home to his wife and they started a family raising 4 girls, first living on a farm on Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro where he worked as a poultry farmer. Then they moved to the house that Donald built in North Waldoboro in 1974 where he and Elsie both resided until his death.

After retirement, Donald enjoyed spending time in the woods out back of his house, driving his dump truck, gardening, camping and going to Atlantic City and Hollywood Slots with Elsie. Donald also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Donald recently received an award from the American Legion for being a 60 year member. A loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Donald’s family was his whole life, he loved spending time with all of them and was always there for them when they needed him. He almost never missed a family function. He will be sadly missed by all family, extended family and friends that knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents and special mother-in-law Eda Hoak.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Elsie Eugley of Waldoboro, four daughters, Susan Cramer of Jefferson, Kathy Kinney and her husband Joel, Tracie Reynolds and her husband John and Dawna Barbour and her husband Glenn all of Waldoboro, seven grandchildren, Jodi Shaw and her husband of Webb of South China, Jeff Kinney and his wife Kandi of Nobleboro, Jared Kinney of Waldoboro, Justin Reynolds and Brandon Nolan of Salisbury, MA, Jillian Stebner and her husband Brian of Nobleboro, Glenn Barbour and his wife Jessica and Brittany Barbour and her companion Adam Kennard all of Waldoboro, eight great grandchildren, Austin, Evan, Faith and Lee Shaw of South China, Arie and Tucker Kennard and Rachel Barbour of Waldoboro and Connor Stebner of Nobleboro. Donald was also looking forward to the birth of his 9th great grandchild, Carly Stebner of Nobleboro this fall.

At Donald’s request there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donald’s name may be made to the American Legion Charles C. Lilly Post #149, 181 Jefferson, Street, Waldoboro, Maine 04572.
