Obituary for Betty Louise Brown (Marr)

Rockland — Betty L. Brown, 70, passed away peacefully at Sussman House in Rockport Sunday, June 24, 2018, with her loving family by her side.

Betty was born March 7, 1948, in Camden to parents Harold Marr and Thelma Nelson Marr.

Betty grew up in Camden and Appleton, attended local schools and received her diploma by working very hard to get her G.E.D. Betty was very proud of her accomplishment in doing that. Entering the workforce, Betty was employed at the local seafood processing factories, all while raising and providing for her children.

Being a mom was Betty’s number-one priority, and her family fondly recalls her being kind, strong, humorous and playful.

When not working or helping others, Betty enjoyed crocheting, playing computer games, attending bingo, going to lawn sales and collecting Native American dolls.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, an infant son, John Everett Snowdeal, and her brother Frederick Marr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughters Tammy (Walter) Cox of Warren and Lorrie Flaherty of Hope; sons Lee (Amanda) Brown of South Thomaston and Shawn Snowdeal of Los Angeles. Betty is also survived by her brothers, William Marr of Berwick, John of Union, Robert of Thomaston and Harold of Lewiston, along with Peter Young of Warren. She also leaves her sister, Beverly Brown (Milton), of Bingham. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jamie Cunningham, Shayne Elwell, both of Rockland, Dustin Weaver of Maine, Devon Pease of Portland, Cheyenne Flaherty of Maine, Tekia Cox, Jenessa Cox and William Cox, all of Warren, as well as Cayleigh Brown of South Thomaston; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service will be held for Betty Friday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at the Village Cemetery, Erin Street, Thomaston. Immediately following the graveside service, a gathering of family and friends will be held for Betty at the home of Lee Brown, 515 Spruce Head Road, South Thomaston.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in her name to Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856.

Arrangements are with Hall’s of Thomaston. To extend online condolences, visit Betty’s book of memories at hallfuneralhomes.com.
