Obituary for Clayton George Hoak

Clayton George Hoak, 92, passed away on June 30, 2018 at MaineGeneral in Augusta, with his family by his side.

Clayton was born in Waldoboro on August 17, 1925, the son of Millard Hoak and Eda (Waltz) Hoak. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended schools in Waldoboro graduating from Waldoboro High School in 1941. Clayton joined the Army Air Force and served from 1943 until 1946. After the service he worked many years as a construction supervisor for W. H. Hinman, in North Anson, Maine and Bridge Construction Company in Augusta, Maine until he retired in 1986.

He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Sterling, Dorothy, Cora, Leon, Florence, wife Irene Ryan Hoak (1984), infant daughter Denise Hoak (1957)and long time companion Clarice Guisani (2016).
Clayton is survived by his daughter, Patrice Tripp and husband Richard, sons, Clayton A. Hoak and his significant other Annette Roy, Sterling M. Hoak and wife Kate, John M. Hoak and his wife CInthia, grandchildren, Christopher Tripp, Michael Tripp, Eric Hoak, Lindsay (Hoak) Trovarello, Sarah and Jeff Hoak and 6 great grandchildren,and several nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service and burial for Clayton at St. Patrick Cemetery, in Newcastle, Maine.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Maine Veterans' Home Rehabilitation Unit and MaineGeneral Hospital for the wonderful care provided to Clayton during his stays.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clayton’s name may be made to the Maine Veterans’ Homes, Company C, 310 Cony Road, Augusta, Maine 04330 or to a charity of an individual’s choice.
