Obituary for Raymond L ""Biscuit"" Olson

Raymond “Biscuit” Olson, 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018 at the Knox Center after a period of declining health. Ray ( as he liked to be called) was born on April 26th, 1932 in Clark Island, Maine to parents William O. Olson and Annie L. Wortham Olson.

Ray attended local schools and joined the US Army serving in the Korean War. Throughout Ray’s life he worked as a laborer both in the Rockland area as well as in Wisconsin. Ray took great pleasure in being a self taught Guitar and Harmonica player. Ray enjoyed performing in a band at the “old Thorndike Hotel” playing Country & Western Music. Ray also played on the morning show on the local radio station in Rockland- WKRD. One of Ray’s great accomplishments was that he got to play at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN.

Ray also enjoyed entertaining the residents at the Knox Center where he played every Tuesday. Ray’s family said he was a very giving & sharing man, and was a “born entertainer”.

Ray was predeceased by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Lillian “Irene” Olson of Thomaston, ME, Norma Schneider of Ashburg, VA, and Gloria Olson of Bayside, WI. His brothers Carl and Roger Olson of Menomonee Falls, WI along with the Melstrom family and many friends.
