Phyllis June Prior DuBois, 90, of Friendship, passed away on October 4, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Phyllis was born on December 5, 1927 to Sidney E. Prior and Clara Bradford Prior in Friendship, Maine. She grew up in Friendship, Maine and attended local schools. She attended and graduated from Thomaston High School . She attended Fisher Business School in Boston, MA and then she attended the New England School of Theology in Brookline, MA. where she met her future husband Clarence DuBois. Phyllis and Clarence were married on September 4, 1949.

She served with her husband at several churches in the states of Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and Illinois until they retired to Maine in 1996.

Music was a very important part of Phyllis’s life. She was the church organist for the churches that her husband served. She taught piano and she played with her traveling organ at many nursing homes and other local churches as well. She loved to sing in the church choir. She was very active in children’s ministry, King’s Jewels, Young Woman’s Auxiliary, and the Church Kid’s Club. She was very active in the Advent Christian Church in Friendship, ME. with the Woman’s Home and Foreign Missions Society. She was also an active Sunday School Teacher, Kids Club, and she was a member of the Senior Citizens group of Friendship and Cushing.

Her hobbies included music, reading, her cats, and gardening.

She is predeceased by her parents, Sidney and Clara Prior, her husband Clarence H. DuBois, and a daughter-in –law Tammy DuBois.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Sidney DuBois of Friendship, Hazel Blackstone and husband Clayton of Pittsfield, MA, Patricia Thompson and husband Darrell of North Tazewell, VA, and Philip DuBois and wife Karen of Buckeye, AZ, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. She was also survived by her loving cat Patches.

A funeral service for Phyllis will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 where a time of visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m at the Friendship Advent Christian Church, 19 Cushing Road, Friendship, ME. with Reverend Alan Chamberlin officiating. Interment will be at the Harbor View Cemetery in Friendship.
