Obituary for Marcelle Quintal (LaTarte)

Marcelle Quintal (LaTarte)
Marcelle Quintal, 81, of Nobleboro passed away at home Sunday August 14, with her family by her side. She had experienced a sudden massive stroke on August 4.

Born in Brunswick Maine on April 13, 1930, she was the daughter of Henry and Suzanne (Pinette) LeTarte. She attended local area schools. On November 3, 1948, she married Paul Quintal.

Besides being a great Mom and homemaker for her entire life, she was creative and a very gifted crafter. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidering, and quilting, just to name a few. She also made several braided wool rugs that were phenomenal. In addition, she was a master at completing 1000 piece puzzles in just a few days, and enjoyed “word search” as part of her daily routine.

For many years Marcelle volunteered at the annual Nobleboro Apple Fest, and was a member of the Nobleboro Historical Society. She was an active member of the Newcastle-Nobleboro Extension Homemakers for 34 years and truly enjoyed the friendships and good times shared. She was also a member of the Knox-Lincoln Extension Homemakers and the Maine Extension Homemakers Council.

Marcelle took pride in her yard, planting many flowers and shrubs. She enjoyed watching the wildlife that would come in to the yard every day, was an avid ‘CSI-Miami’ fan, and enjoyed burning incense that her granddaughter would make for her. At 78 yrs old, she attended her first Nascar race at Texas Motor Speedway and has rarely missed watching a Sunday race since then.

Annual events she loved were the July 4th Round Pond parade, special events at the Church, and Christmas shopping adventures with her best friend of 36 years, Barbara Woodward.
Besides her family and friends, by far the biggest loves of her life were her cats. Ebbie, Reece, and Baby Girl will miss her terribly.

She was predeceased by three brothers: Henry LeTarte Jr., Claude LeTarte, and infant Abel LeTarte.

Marcelle will be missed and remembered by her husband of 62 yrs Paul Quintal , daughter Paula Quintal Sprague, both of Nobleboro, granddaughter Sierra Sprague of Merritt Island FL, and grandson Brandon Sprague of Siler City NC.
Surviving siblings are sisters Manon Roy of Enfield CT, Doris Anderson of Coventry CT, Suzanne McKinley of Melissa TX, and brother Stanley LeTarte of South Windsor, CT.

A Celebration of Marcelle’s Life will be held on Friday, August 19, at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church in Nobleboro, followed by a brief committal service at Dunbar Cemetery on East Neck Road. Following the committal, a reception will be held back at the Church. Friends and family are invited and welcomed to attend any or all.

Should friends desire, donations may be made in Marcelle’s honor to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter PO Box 7 Edgecomb ME 04556, or the Humane Society of Knox County PO Box 1294, Rockland ME. 04841. Better yet, adopt or rescue a pet.

You are invited to share your condolences, memories and photos with the family by visiting their Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home 949 Main St. Waldoboro, Maine.
