Obituary for Dollis Claudette Jones

Dollis Claudette Jones
Dollis Claudette (Davis) Jones, 74, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2017 at Maine Medical Center, in her husband’s arms with her loving family surrounding her.

She was born October 27th, 1942, to Earl Wendall Davis and Mildred (Johnson) Davis.
Dollis grew up in Mercer and attended the Riverview Seventh Day Adventist Grade School and graduated from Messalonskee High School in Oakland.

On April 2nd, 1961 she married Leroy Lee Jones.

While Leroy was in the service they lived in Wareham, Massachusetts, a place in which they made lifelong friends. After his time in the service they were Park Rangers at Baxter State Park, where the family still has very fond memories. They moved back to the Norridgewock area to raise their family so they could send them to Christian school. She loved her family and was proud to be the wife of Chief Leroy Jones.

Dollis became a dental assistant and hygienist for Dr. Turk in Madison for several years and was an office manager for Dr. Denis Beaudoin in Waldoboro, before retiring in 2009. She also held a foreman position for Dwight Newman at Christmas Tree acres. She and her husband Leroy also ran the Jones Christmas Tree Farm for many years. She retired so she could enjoy her real passion which were her flower gardens, and accomplished her lifelong goal to become a Master Gardener. Dollis loved spending time at the 7 Acres on the Sandy River in Norridgewock and enjoyed many family gatherings there.

Dollis was predeceased by her parents and sisters Dawn Poirier, Daphlyn Ingraham and Dail Starbird.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Leroy L. Jones of Waldoboro, her oldest daughter, Beth Bellegarde and husband David of Rumford, her oldest son Mark Jones of Vassalboro, Kimi Smith and husband Keith of Thomaston and her youngest son Chad Jones and wife Alexis of Orrington, sisters, Doreen Parent of Fairbanks Alaska, and Darlene Cropley of Windsor, grandchildren, Garrett Cowett, Gabrielle and Garrick Johnson, David Bellegarde II, Dylan Bellegarde and wife Emily, Desiree Smith, Dakota Smith and wife Jenny, Haven Jones and Emerson Jones, and great granddaughter, Madalyn Bellegarde, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Dollis was anticipating the birth of her second great grandchild, Sophia.

A Service to celebrate Dollis’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Camden Seventh-day Adventist Church, 132 Camden Street, in Rockport. Burial will be in the East Mercer Cemetery, Route 2 in Mercer on June 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

Should friends desire, donations may be made in Dollis’s name to the Waldoboro Food Pantry, 251 Jefferson Street, in Waldoboro, Maine 04572.
