Obituary for James Allen Lorenzen Sr.

James Allen Lorenzen Sr.
James Allen Lorenzen, Sr, 63, passed away with his family by his side at Quarry Hill in Camden, Maine on Thursday, July 20th , 2017, after more than a decade battling Multiple Sclerosis.

Jim was born on June 1, 1954 in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts to parents Henry “Hank” and Jean Heymer Lorenzen. The family moved to St. George, Maine in 1956 where Jim attended the local schools and he graduated from Georges Valley High School in Thomaston in the class of 1972. After graduation Jim entered Southern Maine Vocational Technical School for Automotive Technology. After successful completion of that he went to work for his father at “Hanks Exxon” on Park Street in Rockland, Maine until his dad retired. Jim then went to Bangor , Maine where we was employed as the U-Haul Station Manager until his illness of Multiple Sclerosis made it so he could no longer work.

Jim’s family speaks of his great “dry” sense of humor and how he became an accomplished fisherman. He loved to play cribbage and a good poker game was always welcomed . Jim very much enjoyed Country Western Music and above all else his New England Patriots Football Team. He proudly displayed a large Patriot Flag on his wall in his room at Quarry Hill. Jim took great pleasure in being a part of the Quarry Hill community where he overlooked his own disability to cheer up the other residents. Jim so loved his grandchildren and was very proud of them.

Jim was predeceased by his parents. Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his son James Lorenzen Jr.of Tulsa,OK. and his daughter in law Sarah of Tulsa, OK. His granddaughters Isabel Rae and Madeline Sue of Tulsa, OK. His loving and best friend Sheryl Sutherland of Winslow, Me as well as his sister Nancy (Phil) Hatch of Damariscotta, ME ,his brother John ( Mary) Lorenzen of Farmingdale, Me. and his sister Barbara ( Brian) Dubia of Wolfeboro, N.H. Jim is also survived by his nephews Justin Lorenzen of Appleton, Me and Kevin Dubia of Ashland, N.H.

Jim’s family will honor his life on September 30 th , 2017 at 10:00 a.m. where he will be laid to rest along with his parents at the Ridge Cemetery, in Tenants Harbor, Maine . All family, friends and those whose lives Jim, Jean and Hank had touched are welcome to attend.

The family has requested that donations in Jim’s name be sent to Quarry Hill Activities Fund, 30 Community Drive, Camden, Maine 04843. The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the Hospice workers who took so lovingly care of Jim during his illness.
