Obituary for Richard Franklin Wright

Richard Franklin  Wright
Richard F. Wright, 90, died January 10, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor. He was born November 3, 1927 in Johnson City, NY to Rexford Wright and Christine Reichert Wright. Dick grew up in Johnson City, NY and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War.

Dick worked as a mechanical engineer for IBM for thirty four years until he retired in 1983. He resided in Owego, New York, for twenty five years. He enjoyed art, fishing, and water-skiing. He enjoyed spending summers on Cayuga Lake with his family where many fond memories were made. In later years, he and his wife, Beatrice, spent their vacations in Maine. When he retired, they built their new home in Maine in 1988. He was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 84 in St. George, Maine. He was also a member of the Port Clyde Baptist Church in Port Clyde, Maine, and was a trustee of the Ridge Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Wright of Tenants Harbor, ME

Daughter, Linda Opie of Apalachin, NY, and husband David.

Sons, David Wright of Homer, NY, and wife Heather.
Christopher Wright of Merrimack, NH, and wife Therese.

Sister, Patricia Longeberger of Endicott, NY, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Grandchildren, Sarah Wright of Albany, NY
Rebecca Burke of Eagle River, Alaska, and husband Austin.
Alex Opie of Boseman, MT
Eric Opie of Apalachin, NY

A memorial service will be held at the Port Clyde Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Maxwell officiating at a later date to be announced.
