Obituary for Shirley M. Peaslee

Shirley M.  Peaslee
Shirley M. (Weaver) Peaslee, 90, of Jefferson passed away on February 5, 2018 in Jefferson at her home, where she was surrounded by family. Shirley was born December 19, 1927 in South Jefferson to Albert Weaver and Lydia (Sprague) Weaver.

Shirley worked many jobs over the years, which included working at the Medomak Canning Factory, fish factory, cleaning houses, cottages and offices for years, worked in hen houses picking up eggs and candling the eggs before shipment to the stores, raked blueberries with her children to buy school clothes, picked potatoes up in Aroostook County while pregnant with Junior, and worked at the Coopers Mills Nursing Home.

Shirley enjoyed camping up north and camping at the Fryeburg Fair for the week. She loved sewing, knitting, cooking, playing cards and good company. She especially loved the holidays with her family, putting Easter baskets together, hiding the baskets and watching as each kid found their baskets with their name on it, even right down to her boys! Her favorite holiday was Christmas, she truly loved to shop and couldn’t wait to see each and every child’s face as they opened their gifts. Shirley loved listening to old country music. And her greatest enjoyment was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Willow Grange in Jefferson and the First Baptist Church in Jefferson.

She was predeceased by her husband Douglas E. Peaslee, Sr., sons Dennis Peaslee and Elbridge Peaslee, she was also predeceased by all her siblings, Dorothy Gautreau, Maxine McKay, Ester Cheney, Ruth Peaslee, Bernice Morais, Kathleen Waltz and Donald Weaver.

Shirley is survived by children, Douglas Peaslee, Jr. and his wife Teri of Jefferson; Delma Lee and her husband Tom of Jefferson; Shirley St. Pierre of Jefferson; Roland Peaslee, Sr. and his companion Patricia of Jefferson; Kathy Peaslee of Jefferson; Susan Peaslee and her companion Daniel Achorn of Jefferson;

Grandchildren, Eric Morton, Corey St. Pierre, Nathan Lee, Roland Peaslee, Jr., Danyl St. Pierre Williams, Joshua Peaslee, Amanda Peaslee, Luke Peaslee, Jessica Peaslee, Dylan Peaslee, Dalton Peaslee, Jordan Knox, Miranda Benner and Morgan Achorn, Jazmine Audet, and Samantha Scofield;

Great grandchildren, Ethan Williams, Madison Dodge, Gavan Williams, Marissa Dodge, Kylie Lee, Abigail Morton, Chase Peaslee, Piper Peaslee, Marley Peaslee, Alpha Williams III, Canyon Peaslee, Mariah Achorn, Jacobi Peaslee, Tessa Williams, Makyla Dodge, Brantley Benner, Dylan Peaslee, Jr., Willow Peaslee and Lydia Williams; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, in Waldoboro. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery, Route 126, in Jefferson. A reception will immediately follow the service to be held at Damariscotta Lake Farm in Jefferson from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.
