Condolence: I am so sorry to read about Connie's death. She was a person who challenged set ways of thinking--as she did for me. I knew her at Yale Divinity School (and recall that a faculty member thought she shouldn't ride a motor scooter--unseemly behavior). She welcomed friends of a friendship group at the Chandler family farm in New Hampshire, long ago. I'm not surprised that she continued her ministry of hospitality. I hope that her family's grieving will be healing, and that they know themselves surrounded by love

Condolence: Connie was an important person in my life during my time as a student at Wellesley College. She helped me work through extreme homesickness my first year and was an ever-present sounding board for me. She will be sorely missed.

Condolence: I am so sorry about the loss of your dear Mrs. Chandler-Ward. I was driving directly behind the truck that was involved in this terrible event. I wanted to express my condolences but also wanted to share with you a little bit of what I experienced in the minutes after the crash. I am quite a spiritual person so when I was made aware that Mrs. Chandler-Ward had passed away I became emotional and started praying even harder than I had been before. Instead of prayers for her recovery, I prayed for her family that they would somehow find peace in this horrible tragedy. I wanted to cross the 50 or so feet that separately our two vehicles and just “be with” her until someone from her family would be able to. Unfortunately the authorities would not let me do so sighting protocol in these types of situations. I was sad but understood. I was, however, able to stay “on scene” for quite sometime after all other cars had left. For that approximate 45 min I “sat vigil” if you will, for Mrs.Chandler-Ward. I hope that the telling of this story will bring some amount of peace to your mourning family. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to talk and again I am so sorry for your loss. -Gwen Hendry eggo3.1@gmail.com
