Obituary for Kathy Packard-Hastings

Kathy Packard-Hastings, 58, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with her family by her side. She was born on August 27, 1959, to Joseph Packard and Nancy (Lewis) Packard in Rockland, Maine.

Kathy was a graduate of Medomak Valley High School, Class of 1977. Kathy was married to Paul Hastings for 27 years. She worked at many places over the years but most recently at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta for more than 20 years working with the elderly as a med tech. Kathy enjoyed reading and working in her flower gardens, as well as fishing and trapping and waiting for the weather to be right to sit on the front porch listening to Bob Seger. Kathy and Paul loved going up to camp in Springfield.

Kathy is predeceased by her brother-in-law William “Wild Bill” Hastings.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, Paul Hastings of Waldoboro, her parents Joseph and Nancy Packard of Waldoboro, her son Daniel Simmons and fiancé Jamie Kennard and her only grandson Kaleb Michael all of Waldoboro, step-son Jeramiah Hastings and wife Farrah of Holden, brother Nathan Packard and significant other Jan Costigan of Waldoboro, sister Marie Chadwick and husband Wayne of Sebec, as well as brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Donald and Debbie Hastings of South Hope, Florence and Lewis Merrifield of South Hope, Beatrice Norwood of Millinocket, Helen and Wendell Ware Sr. of Washington and Austin Hastings of Millinocket, many nieces, nephews Aunts and Uncles.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street in Waldoboro. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Union Cemetery, Miller Road in Union, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, 205 Churchill Road, Augusta, Maine 04330 where Kathy and Paul have been members for many years.
