Mark Malcolm Daggett was born on May 18, 1959 to Wesley & Phyllis Daggett at the Knox Hospital in Rockland, Maine. He may have met his future wife, Dianne, on this auspicious day as Dianne’s mother left the Knox Hospital with little Dianne on the day that Mark was born. Mark was always a hard worker. He developed an interest in carpentry and entrepreneurship at a young age. He graduated from Georges Valley High School in 1977.

Mark married Dianne Simmons twenty years ago on September 5, 1998. Mark designed and built their family home in Cushing, Maine in 2000, and in 2006 he built Dianne’s crab picking shop. Dianne has always been a very loving and devoted wife. She took wonderful care of Mark during his prolonged illness with cancer.
Mark founded Mark Daggett Construction in 2005 and ran a successful business until he was too ill to continue.

Mark dedicated his life to Christ 3 years ago, was baptized, and shared his testimony of how God had changed his heart and life.  He enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church in Waldoboro with his Mom and Dad, who lovingly led him back to God through their many heart to heart talks around the kitchen table. They were so proud of Mark, of how much he had overcome, and how he turned his life around.

Mark was a loving person, strong as an ox, charming even as a child with a beautiful big smile, and was lots of fun to be with. Mark had a larger than life presence. Everybody, especially his younger brothers, felt pretty good if they knew Mark had their back. In 1989, Mark was working under a service elevator at Crowe Rope. It let go! Somehow, he survived by rolling out after the first bounce.  The elevator weighed over 4K pounds and was loaded with rope!

Mark and Dianne enjoyed taking trips and riding together on Mark’s motorcycle. Mark thought the world of his step-grandchildren and loved playing pranks like dressing as Santa – they loved it, not realizing it was Mark! Mark was also proud of his big, red tractor. He spent many enjoyable hours on it plowing the driveway, digging trenches, and landscaping. Dianne always raced out to cover his tractor with a tarp in the winter months to provide Mark with a nice dry seat. Mark appreciated the thoughtful things that Dianne did for him. Dianne appreciated the fact that Mark took care of all of the projects that she needed him to do.

Mark is survived by: his parents, Phyllis & Wesley Daggett: his wife, Dianne: his sister, Crystal & her husband, Christopher Robinson: by his brothers: Brian & his wife Katie, Keith & his wife Dawn, and Brad Daggett. His cousin, William Cochran and his wife Kim, were always there for Mark. Mark and Dianne had a large family - too many to name - with lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles, along with Dianne’s children and grandchildren. Mark also had many friends. Mark was known for his great big bear hugs and was loved by all.

Mark joined Christ in heaven on September 17, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He will be sorely missed. His celebration of life will be open to anyone who would like to attend. It will be held at the Waldoboro Baptist Church, next to Moody’s Diner, on Friday, September 28, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pope Memorial Humane Society, P.O.Box 1294, Rockland,Maine 04841 would be appreciated.
