Obituary for Gordon N Hyson Sr.

Print
Gordon Neal Hyson, Sr., 71 died from duodenal cancer on October 21, 2018. He was a true Mainer who was born, lived and died in the Boothbay Harbor region. He spent four years in the Navy, worked at Boothbay Region Boatyard (formerly Brewer’s Boatyard) as a boat painter for 20 years, and worked another 21 years at the Boothbay Region Refuse Disposal District (fondly known as the dump) before retiring at age 65.

Gordon sadly leaves behind his wife, Laura Livingston, who introduced him to hiking, canoeing, camping and traveling for fun. He enjoyed their trips to Disney World and spending time at their camp in Western Maine. And, he especially enjoyed their trips to England and Scotland. He was a bit of an anglophile, loving everything about the British, especially Winston Churchill and Devon cream. Gordon was an avid reader of history and politics.

Gordon also leaves behind his beloved children; Daughter, Karen Marie Hyson, and granddaughter, Devon Colby; Son, G. Neal Hyson Jr., and partner Katie Cray, and three grandchildren: Matthew, Justin and Alyssa.

Gordon is predeceased by his father Merle Hyson who passed away in 1990.

He is survived by his wife Laura Livingston, his mother Evelyn Grant Hyson 93, and two sisters, Gloria Pelletier and Gale Hodgdon.

At Gordon’s request, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
