Obituary for Betsy R. Cole (Redmond)

Cushing, Maine- Betsy Redmond Cole, 70, passed away after a period of declining health at her home on Friday, November 23, 2018 with her loving family at her side.

Betsy was born in Portland, Maine on March 24th,1948 to parents Russell and Elinor Thompson Redmond. Betsy attended East Texas State University, where she met and later married her husband Leslie Cole. They were married in 1970. They lived and raised their kids in Texas, later moved to Michigan where they retired, and eventually moved to Cushing, ME. permanently.

Betsy loved to cook, collect and spend time with friends and family. Betsy was the meaning of hospitality. She always provided delicious food, great conversation, and made her guests, friends, and family comfortable in her presence. She enjoyed canning her vegetables, making jams, tending to her garden, completing puzzles, and playing games with her grandkids.

Betsy was an active member of the Broad Cove Church in Cushing and left many of us with fond memories and kind words, a few of which encouraged us to “Grab the day”.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Leslie, her sons, Robert, his wife, Janelle, and their children, Jacob, Peter, Eli and Anna, of Malakoff, TX, and Brian, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Caleb, Christopher, and Caitlin, of Dallas, TX.; She is also survived by her sister, Denyse Rice of Gross Point, MI, Sister-in-law, Linda Cabbell of Conroe, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Betsy’s name to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Betsy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 15, 2019 at The Broad Cove Church in Cushing, Maine. Rev. Anne Roundy will officiate.
