Obituary

William “Bill” Clinton Tysinger, 76, of Waldoboro and Mount Dora, Fla., went to be with his Lord on Dec. 7. Born Nov. 16, 1942, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Roy Clinton Tysinger and Lucille Brunner Tysinger.

He lived in Arlington, Va. within earshot of Fort Myer and the Pentagon from birth, moving to McLean, Va. in 1958. Bill graduated from McLean High School in 1961, received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1966 and a master’s in business from Central Michigan University in 1978. Bill married his soul mate, Marie (the former Marie Alice Cleaves from Augusta), on Oct. 29, 1965. They eloped while Bill was finishing his degree at GA Tech, marrying at the First United Methodist Church in Talladega, Ala. Bill was commissioned in March 1967 after completing Office Candidate School in San Antonio, Tex. Together, Bill and Marie traveled extensively while Bill was in the Air Force.

Bill was a career Manpower Officer serving at Wiesbaden AFB in Germany; the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Scott AFB, Illinois; Richards Gebaur AFB in Kansas City; and his last duty station, the Air Force Manpower Readiness Team at Site R in Blue Ridge Summit, Penn. Bill and Marie were in Blue Ridge Summit for 34 years before Bill finally retired in 2004 after 22 years of active duty and 16 years as Civilian Senior Technical Advisor in Wartime Manpower Planning

After retirement Bill and Marie purchased a home on the coast of Maine and a condo in Mount Dora, Fla., spending their summers in Maine and winters in Florida.

He was a longtime member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blue Ridge Summit where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Elder for many years. He was also an associate member of Bremen Union Church in Bremen and attended the First UMC of Mount Dora.

Bill loved meeting new people and enjoyed traveling everywhere he and Marie resided. He cherished his volunteer work with the church, Boy Scouts, and Little League, as well as with Waynesboro Hospital emergency room and then with the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce and the Emergency Department of Florida Hospital, Waterman. Bill was a member of Acacia Masonic Lodge #586, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg, and the Zembo Shine.

Bill loved the Lord and through thick and thin, ups and downs, the Lord blessed Bill and his family immeasurably. Bill always said his “citizenship was in heaven” but he treasured his time here on earth basking in the many blessings the Lord showered on him and his family.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Odijk.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie; daughter, Melinda Michalak and husband Darrin of Orford, N.H.; sons, David Tysinger and wife Megumi of Okinawa, Japan, and Christopher Tysinger and wife Renee of East Winthrop; grandchildren, Gabriella Miles, Quinn Tysinger, Owen Tysinger, Brandon Tysinger, Justin Tysinger, Tiffany Tysinger, and Dylan Tysinger; niece, Angela Hassett and husband Mike and two children, Gwen and Elijah.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Bremen Union Church Mission Program, P.O Box 223, Bremen, ME 04551 or Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church Mission Program, 14753 Charmian Rd., P.O. Box 582, Blue Ridge Summit, PA 17214.

Visiting hours will be held at 1 p.m., Tues., Dec. 18 followed by a service at 2 p.m. to be held at Hall’s of Waldoboro, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

It's not easy saying goodbye to someone we love. The pain is deep and seems as if it will never go away, but it will. Pour out your hearts to God in prayer and he will help you heal. Psalms 147:3
