Obituary for Nancy Helen Aylward (Hall)
Nancy Helen Hall Aylward, 61, died unexpectedly at Maine Medical Center because of complications after surgery from a massive stroke Jan. 25, 2019. Nancy was born at Fort Rucker, Ala., on Sept. 20, 1957. She was the daughter of Maj. Sayward N. Hall Jr. of Thomaston and Mary C. (Hall) Stone of Warren.
She grew up in the local area, graduating from Camden-Rockport High School in 1975. She worked for 32 years in the health care field, starting at Camden Community Hospital and moved to Pen Bay Medical Center when it opened in 1975. While working as a unit secretary in the OR department, she was eventually selected for training to be a surgical technician, which she was very proud of.
During high school, she met and eventually married Greg Aylward and they had two sons, Christopher and Patrick Aylward. Her sons were her reason for living. She loved watching them grow into the men they are today, attending all their sporting events, and she especially loved cooking for them. She was very devoted to them.
Nancy loved to cook, read (especially historical novels), crochet and listen to National Public Radio.
Nancy was predeceased by her father, Maj. Sayward N. Hall Jr., her brother, Sayward (Pete) Stone, and her niece, Carolyn Hall-Stone.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her ex-husband, Greg Aylward, of Searsmont; her sons Christopher and Patrick Aylward, both of Searsmont; her mother, Mary C. Stone, of Warren, her brothers, Michael Hall-Stone and his wife, Linda, of Camden, Stephen Hall of Warren, Mathew Hall and his partner, Kathy Luce, of Warren; her sisters, Julie Russell and her husband, Greg, of Camden, Amy Smith and her husband, Everett, of Hope; her sister-in-law, Valerie Stone, of Thomaston; and several nieces and nephews.
Per Nancy’s wish, several people have received a gift of an organ donation.
