Obituary for Charlotte Pomianek

Charlotte M. Pomianek, 92, of Clinton, NJ and Newcastle, Maine, passed away at the Lincoln Home, Friday, June 21, 2019. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on April 21, 1927. She was the daughter of late John and Helen (Posda) Mikush.

During her formative years she attended local schools and graduated from Hanover High School. After completing her education she began her career working as a secretary at various offices including John’s Manville Corporation in Manville, NJ.

Charlotte loved caring for her home and gardens wherever she lived over the years. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and abroad, enjoying the vistas of coastal and mountain regions in particular. When at her second home in mid-coast Maine, Charlotte enjoyed discovering the region’s peninsulas and visiting her favorite coastlines and seafood restaurants each year. She was an avid reader and loved playing Scrabble. Charlotte was also a wonderful cook, known for her many delicious pickles, relishes, and canned vegetables made with garden bounty. She kept the recipes of her Polish heritage alive, and the wide assortment of Christmas cookies she would bake each Christmas, from recipes handed down from her mother, was a hallmark of the holidays.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, in Clinton, NJ, she attended St. Patrick Church in Newcastle, ME and supported St. Jude’s Hospital and various Catholic and Veterans organizations.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband Theodore C. Pomianek who had passed away just 8 days before her (June 13, 2019) and siblings, Paul, Marie and Jack.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Ann Sabina and husband Rendon of Newcastle as well as many nieces, nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

Services and burial dates will be announced when they are determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlotte’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memorial and Honor Gifts, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
