Life Story for William A Poore

Willie Poore, 52, died at his home in Stonington, ME, on July 23, 2019. He was born December 13, 1966 in Boothbay Harbor to Arthur and Leona Poore. He grew up in Boothbay Harbor and attended Boothbay Region High School obtaining his GED.

Willie was well known as a mason and owner of William Poore Masonry for many years. Some of his notable work was when he helped build the fish ladder in Damariscotta Mills, and on the Fisherman Island restoration project in Boothbay. His talent for stone work was well known. He worked as a mason until 2011.

He went back to school to become a C.N.A./CRMA in the Stonington area. Willie was employed by Stonington Island Nursing Home. He had a passion for helping people and was genuinely caring and concerned for his patients. His smile could light up a room. He took a genuine interest in people and wanted to learn from all the people he came into contact with. He was warm-hearted and thoughtful always looking out for others. Willie enjoyed anything to do with nature, the woods, natural health remedies, and gardening. He had a passion for martial arts, and was an avid gun collector.

He was predeceased by his parents, and by a nephew, Ezra Poore.

Willie is survived by his children, Kelsey Lee Poore and Kameron Gilbert Poore of Boothbay. Brothers, Ernest Poore of Crescent City, FL., Andrew Poore of Lewiston, ME., Stanley Hanson of Hudson, MA., Sister, Laura Francis of Boothbay Harbor, Several nieces and nephews.

Please join us August 4th at 11:00 A.M. at Barrett’s Park for an informal gathering to share hugs and stories celebrating Will’s life.
