Obituary for Janet Winslow

Janet Winslow, 66, of Union, died May 22nd after a long battle with cancer at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. She was born on July 18, 1953 in Sandwich, MA to John Hilton Winslow and Eleanor Crowell Winslow. Janet grew up and spent summers working at the Crow Farm in Sandwich. She graduated from Sandwich High School and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

She worked at the water company in Rockland and Rockport for 35 years until she retired. In retirement, she worked part time at Barley Joe Greenhouse in Warren. She was a lover of gardening, and was the Queen of the tomato’s in the neighborhood. She was very active with MOFGA, and volunteered each year at the Exhibition Hall at the Common Ground Fair in Unity.

She loved kayaking, and taking her annual trips to Baxter State Park and Monhegan Island. She was an avid birder, and supported local libraries.

She is survived by her beloved companion of 34 years, Edgar Moody of Union; Ed’s children, Beth Moore and her husband Mike of Jefferson, Dawn Daggett and her husband Keith of Rockport; Mother, Eleanor C. Winslow of Sandwich, MA; Brother, John “Dick” Winslow and partner of 31 years Tao B. Matthews both of Wells; Three very special cousins, and an Aunt and Uncle.
