Obituary for William Edward Sanborn

William Edward Sanborn, 80, of Waldoboro, died June 16, 2020 at PenBay Medical Center in Rockport. He was born September 27, 1939 in Warren, Maine to Willard Edward Sanborn and Alice (Wilson) Sanborn. He grew up in the Warren and Cushing and graduated from Waldoboro High School.

William joined the Army in 1957 and was discharged in 1963. After the service he held many jobs including being a full-time father, working at Martin/Marietta Cement Plant, an associate at Walmart, Brooks Lumber Mill, a security guard at National Sea Products, a caregiver at The Holmstead, and a fisherman.

He enjoyed family time, camp fires, singing, fishing, going on car rides in the country. He was a loving, funny, tell it like it is kind of a guy, would help anyone, and loved watching animals and birds and the beauty of nature.

He was predeceased by his wife Susan Sanborn (1979) and Alice Mank Sanborn in (2012), siblings Donald Sanborn, Herbert Sanborn, Maynard Sanborn and Floyd Sanborn, sisters Carry Carter, Margaret McIntyre and step-daughter Sheryl Harvey.

He is survived by his son Mark Sanborn and wife Melody of Waldoboro, daughters, Paula Sanborn of Bethel and Melissa Chartier of Waldoboro, sister Dorothy (“Dot”) Bredeau of Damariscotta, step-son Gary Mank of Panama City, FL, grandchildren, Remington Sanborn of Woodstock, ME, Josh Golden of Waldoboro, Donald E. Simmons of Bethel, Joshua W. Simmons of Hope, and Chianne Simmons of Colorado, Doreen Goding of Rumford, Heather Garland of Peru, Susan Fagan of Colorado, and several nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.

A celebration of William’s life will be held at a date to be announced. A private burial will be held at Brookland Cemetery in Waldoboro, Maine.
