Betsy and family,

I cannot think of Charles without the memory of him getting on the bus each morning as we went to Medomak Valley High School. He always greeted the bus driver Harlan and the greeting was always returned. He always had a big smile and was friendly to all. A good man. Please accept our sincere condolences.

We are so saddened to learn of Charles' untimely death. There is no single memory that stands out, rather the fact that always, no matter what , Charles greetings embraced us like a long lost friend, with his enormous smile and warm engaging personality. He had a big heart, and wisdom rare to be found anymore. He will be missed. Profound condolences to Betsy, Olivia, Merle, Nancy and Berk.

I fondly remember the times my father and myself would stop by the Vanner farm in my youth. Charles always had a big smile and I enjoyed the visits. Talks would range from fishing, hunting, and farming. I have enjoyed the friendship of the Vanner family for many years. I always had great conversations with Charles. Rest in peace Charles.
