Robert (Bob) Paul Conrad

Sept 15, 1939 to Sept 24, 2020

Bob passed away peacefully while on a walk on his farm on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020. He was born and raised in Aurora, IL. He graduated from Wayne State University. He worked as a guidance counselor in Rockland, Maine, and Waltham, MA. He was a recognized artist and goldsmith in Newburyport, MA and in Tenants Harbor, Maine, where he most recently made his home. He enjoyed the ocean and boating.

He is survived by his sons, Peter Conrad and his wife, Karen, of Beverly, MA, Phillip Conrad and his wife, Lori, and grandson, Walter, of Henderson, NV, and his daughter, Sarah Conrad Weisman, and her husband, Harris, and grandchildren, Theo and Phoebe, of Baldwinsville, NY, and his long-time partner, Jan McCoy. He was predeceased by sister, Elaine Blatner, and his brother, Dale Conrad.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held in spring 2021.

Donations in Bob’s honor may be made to the St. George (Maine) Volunteer Firefighters & Ambulance Association 3 School Street, St.George, ME 04860 (

Jan, I will always remember Bob's dynamic role in our memoir writing class. He endeared himself to all of us.

honour and blessings to Jan and Bob's family and friends from susan morrison and armand de grenier once of Newburyport and now in Nova Scotia ... a joy to have shared time and space and little gold rings !!! there they were in a little dish in the shop upstairs from the coffee/b'fast/news go-to ... made to attach to jewelry wrist bands and necklaces until i slipped it along my hair braid and voila !!! a new dream was born ~!~ much love shared ~!~ many giggles ~!~ so it is that we sail along ~!~ in spirit ~!~
