Obituary for Janet L. Morton

Janet Lynn Morton, 64, of Union, ME, died peacefully at home on September 28, 2020 after her long courageous battle with cancer. She was born to parents Philip Morton and Phyllis Morton, on 01/18/1956 in Meriden, CT.

Janet grew up shooting archery competitively with her family in Connecticut and throughout New England. She graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1974 and made a career as a Real Estate Paralegal in the midcoast. She was well regarded in her field and will be remembered fondly for her impeccable work.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, being on the water, playing softball, tennis, and golfing. She was known throughout the community for her infectious laugh and her ever constant sense of adventure.

Janet is survived by the loving community of Union, her partner Dean Christianson of New Hampshire, and her three children; Maureen Booth of Augusta, Wade Ward of Camden, and Ryan Ward of Louisiana, along with their partners and children. She also leaves behind her siblings Russell Morton of Union, Deborah Morton of Waldoboro, Cindy Henderson of North Carolina, and Wendie Barberino of Connecticut, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the healthcare staff that assisted with her care, and to everyone else that helped during this difficult time.

Due to Covid there will be a small graveside service for immediate family only, and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for the rest of the community in the Spring.

Those wishing to honor her life may make donations to New Hope for Women, PO Box A, Rockland, ME 04841, an organization that she was very fond of.
