Dresden -- Dianne Alice Paine, 57, was delivered into the arms of Jesus on a beautiful spring Tuesday morning, May 18, 2021, at home in Dresden, surrounded by her loving family. Dianne was born on September 6, 1963, the daughter of Clyde and Alma (Clough) Stilphen, of Pittston Maine. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1981. She met Christopher L. Paine, her husband of 33 years at Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset. Chris and Dianne were married on July 9th, 1988, after a short engagement of six months. Chris and Dianne were given her grandparent’s house and a four acre cape in Dresden in 1988, where they raised their three children.
Dianne loved people. She was always giving her time, energy, and love to others, and she was a beautiful picture of God’s love to us. Dianne was a great cook for many years, pumpkin whoopie pies, cookies, and many sweets as well as loved to put on banquets and suppers for different occasions. She loved to craft and sew with friends, making bibs and table runners for the family. She enjoyed her vegetable gardens every summer.
She was also very active in many churches, including Bible Baptist Church, Lighthouse Baptist Church and Truth Baptist Church. Dianne was a member of Truth Baptist Church of Jefferson, Maine. She was very active with the bus ministry in Wiscasset bringing kids to Sunday school and loved to lead the singing for the opening when all the bus kids arrived. Dianne taught kindergarten for 20+ years at Wiscasset Christian Academy teaching many kids to read and write. One of her students grew up to be the school administrator of WCA even while Dianne was still teaching there. She also cleaned cottages in the summer in the Boothbay Harbor region.
Her family cannot count the number of people she knew or touched but have treasured the many comments and stories from friends and family.

Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Alma Stilphen. Dianne is survived by her 5 siblings, Dorothy S. and husband Leon Weeks, Barbara A. and husband William Weeks, Richard E and wife Pat Stilphen, Dwight A. and wife Cynthia Stilphen, Paul C. and wife Regina Stilphen. She is also survived by her three children, Justin C, and his wife Sarah, Alicia D, and Seth A.

Dianne is also survived by her 2 grandchildren, Atlas and Archer Paine. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside service will be at 11am on Monday May 24, 2021 at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Dresden Maine with a reception to follow at 12pm Church Hill Baptist Church 258 Church Hill Road Augusta Maine.

Dianne's beautiful, young-girl smile was so infectious, she was such a joy to be around, and always helping others wherever needed. She was a lady of conviction, and excitement. I remember when she was planning her wedding how happy she was. Dianne and Chris's wedding cake was either the 2nd or 3rd I had ever made, and it was a challenge from beginning to the end, with dark blue roses and white lilies; to say nothing of transporting to the church from Bath on the hottest day of the summer and the bridge went up; A bit of repair was needed when we arrived at the church, and I was so afraid it wouldn't be perfect, but not Dianne, she just thought it was all beautiful. We did our best. She was also thrilled to be expecting her children... since her children were born after mine, we were able to share the same playpen which had lovingly been provided by the ladies at Bible Baptist Church. Dianne was a special lady. We will look forward to seeing her again. Precious in the sight of the Lord...

I have so many memories of Dianne, as I’ve known her since I was a little girl when she started taking me on the Sunday bus route with her. I’ll never forget the eventful vacation to FL where we were involved in a serious car accident with my parents, or being a junior bridesmaid in her wedding, to eventually being Braden’s most-loved Kindergarten teacher who led him to Christ. Of all the memories though, I will never forget when my kids were going to a different school, every time she would see me (and I mean every time!) she would tell me that she was praying they would come back to WCA as she missed them and truly believed it was where they were meant to be. I will never forget her tears the day I told her they were coming back. I truly believe it was partly due to her prayers that they are there today. I will be forever grateful for the difference she made in my life, and in the lives of my children. Heaven gained one of the very best this week. We love you, Chris, Justin, Alicia, and Seth.

It has been said that a picture paints 1000 words but it would take much more than this to describe Dianne. We became instant friends the the moment we met back in 1986. She has been a blessing to so very many people over the years including our family. Heaven grows sweeter and sweeter! You will be missed my friend! We are praying for you Chris, Justin, Alicia and Seth. Much love, Bryan & Camille Helm
