Obituary for Pauline "Polly" Tabbutt-Thomas

Warren- Pauline Marie Morris, Tabbutt, Thomas. 90, passed away peacefully after a short stay at PenBay Medical Center in Rockport on June 1, 2021.

Pauline was born on December 16, 1930 in Rockland, Maine to parents Cecil & Evelyn Niles Morris of Tenants Harbor, Me. Pauline was a graduate of the Saint George High School class of 1949.
She married Russell Tabbutt of Thomaston in November 1949 and moved to Gloucester, MA where Russell worked in boat building and they had their first child. Soon after they moved back to Thomaston where they built a boat shop and a home on Water Street and continued to raise a family of 4 girls over the years.

Pauline was a past president of the Ladies Firemen’s Auxiliary. She picked out crabmeat to sell at home and in stores. Back then she was known as Polly Tabbutt. Throughout her years she worked at Crowe Rope, Atwood’s, National Sea Products and Port Clyde Packing Co. then on to the Methodist Conference Home in Rockland where she worked in the kitchen.

Pauline spent most of her years in Thomaston, 3 years in Conway NH, 15 years in Owls Head and then 12 years in Islesboro doing care giving and care taking work with her husband, Rex. They later moved back to Thomaston, due to his illness and then to his home in Warren on the Patterson Mill Road. After the loss of her second husband, Pauline moved to her grandson’s home on Atlantic Highway in Warren where she fully enjoyed the farm life! Forever watching the cows and the pigs grow as well as the antics of the hens and loved watching the birds that visited her feeders until she went to live at Crawford Commons just a little over a year ago.

Pauline was a quilt maker and loved to sew. She attended many craft fairs and displayed and sold her quilts and other items at the Union Fair grounds. She and Rex also did their share of camping all over Maine and New Hampshire and loved the good times they shared with their best friends, Dick & Annie Cilley of Belmont.

Pauline is predeceased by her two husbands, Russell Tabbutt of Thomaston & Rex Thomas of Warren, a daughter, Susan Betts of Thomaston, her parents, Cecil Morris of Tenants Harbor & Evelyn Morris of Woburn, Mass. and one great grandchild, Michael Obuchon of Warren.

Pauline will be sadly missed by her surviving family:

Daughters Sally Ploski of Waldoboro, Shirley Tabbutt of Warren, And Nancy Refregier of Union. Step-daughter, Betty Lou Richards of Hope. and Brother, Richard Morris of Biddeford.
Sisters Joanne Morgan of Reading, Mass. Dorothy & husband, Frank, Minghella of Woburn, Mass.
and Shirley Robinson of Merrimack, NH.
Plus her 5 wonderful grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren along with many nieces ,nephews and their families.

Pauline had requested that no funeral services be held . Her family will honor her life privately where she will be laid to rest at the Thomaston Village Cemetery alongside her first husband, Russell Tabbutt

The family has requested that donations be given in Pauline’s name to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX. 75284-0692.
