Obituary for James C Harriger Jr.
James C. Harriger Jr. of Boothbay Harbor passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022 with his wife and daughter by his side.
Affectionately known as “Jim, Jim, the Clever Bastard” by family and friends, Jim had a reputation for being able to find solutions for any problem. Jim was born on Sept. 4, 1947 in Cuba, New York to James C. Harriger Sr. and Arlene E. Davis Harriger. He graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High School in 1965.
Jim proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968-1971. Shortly before boot camp he married Cynthia Lovenberg of Red Bank, New Jersey and started a family. During his time in the service, his father passed away, and Jim returned to New York to help operate his mother’s business, Old Erie Coffee House. Jim became a manufacturer’s representative in the 1980s, which became his full-time career and led to his relocating to Maine permanently.
Jim was widowed in 1998, and was lucky to find a second true love when his sales-rep business led him to Boothbay Harbor, where he met Barbara Crawford at The Village Store. They started their courtship in 2002, and have been inseparable ever since, marrying in 2013 and enjoying a Happily-Ever-After until his passing.
Some of the best times of his life were spent vacationing in Hopetown, Bahamas, getting together with friends, and driving his BMW Z3.
He is survived by his daughter Amy Dudar and her husband Peter (granddaughters Vivian and Liliana) of Lisbon Falls, Maine; his stepchildren Jessica Parrott and her husband Darrell of South Burlington, Vermont, Kyle Crawford and his wife Sarah (granddaughter Katrina) of Marshfield, Vermont, Devon Brewer and her husband Mike (granddaughter Zoë) of Alexander, Maine, and Jenny Crawford of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and his brother-in-law Douglas Weiderman and his wife Karen (niece Lesley and nephew Sean) of East Northport, New York. Jim also leaves behind a plethora of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James and Arlene, his first wife Cynthia, his son James C. Harrige III, and his grandson Neil Brewer.
