Obituary for Gloria J Dinsmore (Chase)
Rockland- Gloria Jean Dinsmore, 79 ,went home to her saviour with family by her side on July 27th, 2022 In Rockland. Gloria was born in Rockland on July 12th, 1943 to parents Sylvanus Victor Chase and Ruth Arlene Widdecomb Chase.
Gloria attended local schools in Rockland and in 1960 she moved to Connecticut living there until 1971 when she moved back to Rockland. While in Connecticut Gloria worked at Sheffield Tubes. Gloria met and married Carl P. “Yogi” Dinsmore in 1971.
Gloria’s working years while raising her family were at Port Clyde Packing Co, Stinsons Canning, Holmes Packing Co, The Samoset Resort, Camden Healthcare and Knox Long Term Care where she retired to care for her husband. When Carl passed away in 2010 Gloria moved to Bangor to be near family realizing that she was not a big city girl and moved back to Rockland.
Gloria’s favorite past times were knitting, crocheting, reading, listening to music, making jewelry, dancing, bowling, roller skating , watching Stock Car racing and especially spending time with her favorite feline named Nilly.
Gloria’s family said that she had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a good joke and was always willing to help those in need as well as a loyal and long lasting friend.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, her ex-husband Bernard “Skip” Cousens, her brother Ronald Chase and her husband Carl P. Dinsmore of 33 years.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Timothy Cousens (Vicki), Mark Cousens, Kathryn Doody (Timothy), and her Sister Gail Connell ( Russell Sr,) of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Cousens, Matthew Cousens, Emily Hintz, and Travis Doody. Her great - grandchildren Caelyn Doody, Amelia Doody, Mia Langlois, Alyah Kintz, and Nick Hintz. Along with her sister in law Debra Kinny ( Billy) of Cushing, brother in law Wayne Dinsmore ( Elizabeth) of Friendship and brother in law Richard Dinsmore ( Cathy) of Rockland. She is also survived by a very special nephew Russell Connell Jr. ( Laura) of Massachusetts, her cousins Janice Kelly, Joyce Young,and Patricia Murray ( Ronald).
A graveside service for Gloria will be held on August 5th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. when she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Carl at the Achorn Cemetery , 480 Old County Road, Rockland. Rev. Anne Roundy will officiate.
Gloria’s family has requested that donations in Gloria’s name be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 350 , Westbrook, ME. 04092-0250 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX, 75284-0692.
