Obituary for Patsy Irene Chapin
Patsy Irene Chapin passed away in her home in Waldoboro on August 9th, at the age of 72. She was born on January 10, 1950 in Damariscotta, Maine to Frederick Sanborn Sr. and Jessie (Glaude) Sanborn.
Patsy grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools. She graduated from Medomak Valley High School in the Class of 1969, the first class of the new high school. After graduating from Medomak, she attended beautician school in Bangor. She cut the local neighborhood kid’s hair. She started as a weaver at the Camden Knox Woolen Mill, then worked at Hannaford for a few years, went back to weaving at Best Felts in Thomaston and then worked at the Science Source in Waldoboro.
Patsy was a very caring and loving person. She adored her grandchildren; she was the type of grandmother who never said no. She would help anyone in need. Patsy was well qualified to fix things around the house, she was known to have done many carpentry and electrical jobs over the years. She was also a great cook. Patsy made beautiful cakes for birthdays and weddings. She also loved decorating Christmas wreaths at Fresh Off the Farm.
Patsy was predeceased by her parents and her son Christopher Chapin and nephew Jamey Sanborn. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, George T. Chapin of Waldoboro, daughters Jessica Gilson and her husband Andrew of Skowhegan, Samantha Chapin of Waldoboro and Holly Boone of Waldoboro. She is also survived by her son-in-law David Boone of Waldoboro; her 8 grandchildren, Danielle, Zachery, Kaylee, Noah, Elijah, Alaina, Adilyn and Ethan; 3 great grandchildren, Liam, Lucas and Lydia; brother Fred Sanborn of Waldoboro and her long-time friend Ann Ebert of Auburn.
The family will hold a memorial service at the St. George Masonic Lodge #16, 105 Camden Road in Warren on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at the Sawyer Cemetery in Warren.
