Obituary for Seth Addison Abbott

Seth Addison Abbott died on June 21, 2014 at the age of 93 in Rockland, Maine, where he resided in a Bartlett Woods retirement apartment.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Creighton Abbott, a daughter, Alison W. Abbott, of San Cristoble, Mexico, and two sons, David C. Abbott, of Cushing, Maine, and Seth C. Abbott, of York, . He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Seth was born in Buffalo, New York, on 23 April, 1921. At the time of his birth, he resided in the hamlet of Armor (formerly Abbott's Corners) in the Town of Orchard Park, adjoining the Town of Hamburg, New York. He grew up in his family home on Abbott Road.

He graduated from Hamburg High School, Brown University, and Harvard Law School. He served in the US Army Air Corps as a communications officer during World War II.

Seth practiced Law in Hamburg and was a partner of the Abbott, Tills, & Knapp law firm at the time of his retirement. He held several public offices which included: Hamburg Town Justice, Hamburg Village Justice, New York State Supreme Court Justice and Administrative Judge for New York State Controller; also Hamburg Town Supervisor and Erie County Legislator.

Seth's primary hobby was family genealogy research resulting in the printing of genealogies of each of 25 ancestral lineages of his children.

Seth married Lois (Loie) Mills Creighton on July 3, 1943 at the Episcopal Church in Hamburg. They had been married for 70 years.

Private memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.
