Obituary for
Keegan Wiliam Spear
Keegan William Spear, 17, of Boothbay Harbor, ME, died tragically on July 30th as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident along with his cousin Casey Dalton of Boothbay. Keegan is the beloved son of Cynthia B. Spear of Boothbay Harbor and William and Debra Spear of Boothbay and brother of Zachary S. Spear and his longtime companion, Linsey Grover of Boothbay and brother, Riley B. Spear of Boothbay and stepbrother, Desmond J. Kelley of Boothbay Harbor.
Born on July 17th, 1997 at Miles Memorial Hospital, Keegan was the middle son and attended schools in Boothbay Harbor. He was intelligent and had his own way of learning life’s lessons both in school and out. He was a friend to all he met and took great joy in making people laugh. He was amusing, sharing his quick wit with anyone that would listen. He loved to see how easily he could distract you from whatever you thought you should be doing by saying “watch what I can do!”. One was sure to be rewarded with a finger trick, a double-jointed hand trick, a twisted tongue, or something equally silly and entertaining.
When Keegan was little, his favorite things to do were to visit the Railway Village to ride the trains, and to visit the Fire Station to “ride” the fire trucks. He could usually be found outside, covered in mud with a smile, searching for “the right” stick, rock, or bug. He was a Cub Scout and played baseball, basketball, football and loved being on a team. Keegan was passionate about life. He started out bringing home stray animals, and always was very kind and generous to everyone he met. Keegan had a passion for cooking, and a talent for cleaning out both the fridge and freezer to make sure everyone got fed. And we will all remember this about him…KEEGAN LOVED CHEESE!
From a young age, Keegan had a love of nature, camping, and fishing. He was a lifetime member of Field and Stream, as well as Bass Master. He took great pride in his collection of both fresh and salt water fishing rods and reels. Keegan collected baseball hats and collector knives.
Keegan was a sternman for Phil Page and took great pride in his new profession.
In addition to his cousin, Casey Dalton, Keegan was predeceased by his Grandparents, Mechelle Spencer of Southport, Captain William “Bill” Bibber of Boothbay, Janet (Judy) Spear of Boothbay and most recently, his Great-Uncle Capt. Bill Spencer of Boothbay Harbor.
