Obituary for
Robert Warren ""Bob"" Seaman
Robert W. Seaman of Southport departed this life on September 4, 2014. Bob was raised in Rockaway, NJ and lived the majority of his adult life in and around Morris Plains, NJ. He was a graduate of Stevens Institute and served his country during World War II as a naval engineering officer on ships in the Pacific Ocean. During his career Bob served as Project Engineer for X-1 Engine, and as chief engineer for the design and development for the X-15 Space Plane rocket engine. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed model trains.
Following his retirement in 1988, Bob and Lois moved to Southport where for the previous twenty years they had spent their vacations. He was an active member of the Southport United Methodist Church.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is preceded in death by Lois, his wife of 59 years. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Ruth Davenport Seaman, two sons, Terry and his wife Heidi of Maple Valley, Washington and Glenn and his wife Barbara of Parsippany, NJ, one stepson, Jerry Davenport, and his wife Susan of Dover, NJ; a granddaughter, Sally de Araujo and her husband Luke of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; two grandsons, Andrew and his wife Renee of Green Township, NJ, and Daniel of Parsippany, NJ; a step grandson, Matthew Davenport and his wife Karen of Dover, NJ; two great grandsons, Manny and Eli de Araujo of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, and one great granddaughter, Maya Seaman, of Green Township, NJ.
A memorial service will be held at the Southport United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southport United Methodist Church.
