Obituary for Clayton U. Grant

Clayton U. Grant
Clayton “Buddy” U. Grant passed away peacefully on April 27, 2015 at Miles Hospital. He was born December 17, 1927 on Barters Island to Sidney and Amy (Barter) Grant.
Buddy graduated from Barters Island Community School. He worked at the local shipyards in Boothbay until he served our country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned home to work at the shipyards and eventually as a mechanic and “Jack of all Trades” at Frizzell’s Chevrolet in Boothbay Harbor until he retired when he was 65. He met Janice Rice at the bowling alley in Boothbay Harbor and the couple married on June 18, 1955.
Buddy loved to drive fast and go to state fairs. He also enjoyed his animals, especially his cats, and antique cars. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Buddy was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Kenneth Grant; and brother, Russell Grant. He is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Janice Grant, of Edgecomb; son, Jeffery Grant, of Edgecomb; son, Alan (Sally K) Grant, of East Boothbay; son, Timothy Grant, of Edgecomb; sister, Evelyn Hyson, of Wiscasset; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Hall’s of Boothbay. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Hall’s of Boothbay has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences, light a candle for Buddy, or to share a story or pictures, please visit his Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com
