Mary Jo was an extraordinary person. She will be missed, for sure, but her imprint will remain forever on the hearts of those she touched. I am grateful for the opportunity to have known her. Her approach to social justice with kindness, convictions and sense of humor are a model for us all. With deepest sympathy to her family. May her memory be eternal.
My heart grieves that this great soul has been taken from us. My soul rejoices that heaven contains one more "dear heart", perhaps the dearest. God comfort you Bob Zimmerli. And God keep you Mary Jo. I have heard many preachers. You were the best.
Jane North (formerly of Sudbrook United Methodist Church, Pikesville, MD)
Mary Jo epitomized her own phrase "Dear Heart". Her love and wisdom had neither boundaries nor expectations. She will be missed by all that knew her. Prayers and blessings to her family.
We are so sad to hear of Mary Jo's passing. She was our neighbor, friend, and one of my grandmothers best friends. We met Mary Jo and Bob in 2000 and she graciously officiated our marriage at the Ocean Point Chapel. She also spoke so kind of my Grammie McFarland this past summer at her funeral. Mary Jo's kind words and sincere respects for Grammie were heartwarming to all. She will be missed and our thoughts are with Bob and her family.
Mary Jo was a friend and companion to my mom --they shared many laughs--an occasional strawberry daiquiri and the candle you had on every night in the window was so peaceful for her--May you rest in peace and god bless--my thoughts are with Bob and family
With love and much sadness I can only say...Reverend Mary Jo Zimmerli will be missed and cherished forever as one of the most wonderful woman anyone could ever had the honor of knowing.
I had the honor to meet Mary Jo through the Boothbay Region Garden Club. Her benedictions were so memorable for me, always blending the wish of love for people with reverence and love of nature. She always cut a striking figure as she went around chatting and laughing with our members, giving praise and support to all of us. She will be so missed.
