Obituary for Dorothy Booth Dimitre

Dorothy Booth Dimitre
Dorothy B. Dimitre, 85, passed away at the Sussman House, Rockport, Maine, in the care of hospice and surrounded by her family on July 9, 2016.

Dorothy was born in Portland, Maine on October 21, 1930 to Louis and Helena (True) Booth. Her time growing up was spent in the Northeast. Dorothy attended the University of Maine at Orono and received a degree in Education. She married Lawrence Dimitre on April 11, 1953.

Together Dorothy and Lawrence raised six children, Anne Michelle, Michael Lawrence, Sandra Louise, Mary Katherine, Denise Dorothy and Stephanie Jean. They lived in Bar Mills, Maine for 31 years. There she enjoyed supporting her children as they participated in band and chorus concerts, 4-H, and dance. She enthusiastically cheered them on for all their sporting events, field hockey, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, track and swimming.

Dorothy was an active member and leader in the Hollis Lioness Club and a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church. When Lawrence retired from S. D. Warren Company in Westbrook, Maine, they began traveling around the United States camping and visiting their children and grandchildren.

In 1994 they moved to Waldoboro, Maine and continued to travel around the country with their dogs. When home, they attended St. Patrick Church in Newcastle, Maine. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, quilting and reading. She always looked forward to weekly lunches with her sister, Louise, visits with her grandchildren and attending their school activities and sports. Her beloved dogs kept her company as she knitted colorful socks for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by Lawrence, her husband of 63 years, her sister Louise Works, her children, Anne Jones (husband Tom), Michael Dimitre (wife Lois), Sandra Dunn (her husband Dennis), Kathy Ludwig (husband Wayne), Denise Dimitre and Stephanie Albert (husband Chris), her grandchildren Aaron Jones (wife Laura), Stephen Jones, Alysn Ludwig, Micha Ludwig, Priscilla Dimitre, Dale Dunn (wife Sara), Skyler Albert and Quinn Albert; and great grandchildren Jack Jones and Cooper Jones.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro, Maine. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Patrick Church, 380 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle, Maine, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, Maine 04856.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hall’s of Waldoboro, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. To extend online condolences, light a candle for Dorothy or to share a story or picture, visit her Book of Memories at www. hallfuneralhomes.com.
