Roger was born on February 22, 1928 in Union Maine to Lee E. Mank and Alice M. (Hunt) Mank. Roger attended local schools in Hope, Union and Waldoboro. In 1946 he joined the Army and served his country in Korea. After returning home from the service he worked for Charles Kigel, Elard Mank at the stave mill, and Elmer Hart at the East Union mill.

He also worked for Lime Products Corp. in the quarry running the big shovel and then spreading lime. Roger also drove a spreader truck and hauled bagged lime to Massachusetts and feed mills mixed with chicken feed. He worked for Dragon Cement in Thomaston and drove tractor trailer delivering cement. He retired in 1994 from Dragon Cement.

After retirement he and his wife traveled by car to Montana, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Mt. Rushmore and Georgia. Every other year they traveled to Detroit to the Henry Ford Museum. He was a lifetime member since 1970 of the Farrar Ross VFW Post #9437 in Washington.

Roger was such a kind and loving grandfather to me. He treated my grandmother Marjorie with immense respect and cared for her so deeply. He treated my mom Sandy like she was his own daughter. Gratitude is a word that doesn’t begin to describe my feelings about having Roger in my life. Rest easy, Grandpa Roger. You always loved to travel, and now the entire cosmos is yours to traverse. I will love you forever.

Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss of Roger.
May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7) May the hope of a resurrection right here on a restored earth bring you comfort. (John 5:28, 29) Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life) Psalm 37:11, 29) But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.

My deepest sympathy
