I met Stacey and Phyllis at Owls Head Museum. The museum was sponsoring a B29 plane ride and I purchased a ticket for my then husband. WhilePhyllis and I watched it take off she told me Stacey's story. I was so inspired I asked Stacey if I could write it for the local paper. It was such a hit that it ran as a 2 week story and it was picked up by the Courier and other papers as well. Their story inspired me and many others. Not just that he was a POW but the love that they had for each other, our country and the sacrifices they made to be together. They were both the most down to earth loving people that i have ever met. I hope the family is comforted in the fact that they are once again together. It was an honor to know them both. It is not every day that I have been able to shake the hand of a real hero. RIP Stace, the honor was all mine.
